This guide walks you through installing a Desktop Browser Wallet.

Installing the wallet extension

  1. Hit "Download" in the menu bar.

  2. Click “Install MetaMask for Chrome”. You will be directed to the Chrome Web Store.

  3. Click “Add to Chrome”.

  4. On the pop-up, click “Add extension”.

Creating a new wallet

  1. Open MetaMask and click "Get Started."

  2. Set a strong password.

  3. Write down the 12-word seed phrase.

  4. Confirm the seed phrase.

  5. Your wallet has been created.

Add a Polygon Mainnet Network

Here is a simple guide to connecting to the Polygon Amoy Testnet with Chainlist:

  1. Visit the ChainList website and connect your MetaMask Wallet.

  2. Search for "Polygon" in the 'Search Networks' tab.

  3. Find the Polygon network you want to connect to and click 'Add to MetaMask'. It will be automatically added to your wallet.

Adding Amoy Testnet

Note: You need to add 'Amoy Testnet' if you want free Testnet access.

Here is a simple guide to connecting to the Polygon Amoy Testnet with Chainlist:

  1. Visit the ChainList website and connect your MetaMask Wallet.

  2. Select the 'Include Testnets' checkbox.

  3. Search for "Polygon Amoy" in the 'Search Networks' tab.

  4. Find the Polygon Amoy network you want to connect to and click 'Add to MetaMask'. It will be automatically added to your wallet.

Adding USDC.e Token on Polygon

Step 1:

  • Go to Coinmarketcap and search for USDC.e.

  • Select Polygon network from the contract address dropdown.

  • Copy the Polygon USDC.e contract address.

Step 2:

  • Open Metamask and click on the "Import Tokens" button.

  • In the Token Contract Address field, paste the copied Polygon USDC.e contract address.

  • The remaining details will be auto-filled if the address is correct.

  • Click "Add Custom Token" and then "Import Token".

This will add the USDC.e token on the Polygon network to your Metamask wallet.

Connecting to DApps

To use MetaMask to interact with a DApp, look for a “Connect to Wallet” button or similar element on the platform you’re attempting to use. After you click this, you should see a prompt asking if you want to allow the DApp to connect to your wallet.
